Answer

The load-cell was removed and following a re-calibration of the load-cell for our Hounsfield H20K-W by - "JCM Scotload", Aberdeen- it was re-fitted and now only shows the following on the display.

On switch-on, the screw-carriage travels a short distance in the Tension direction before showing on the display:
+00000.0 ON LOAD. Al
+000.000mm

After approx 1 minute without moving, the carriage travels again in the Tension direction then stops with the display showing:
21845.3N COM.Al
then
21845.3N TEN.Al with the left LED direction indicator flashing.

The MEMERROR does not show and we are not able to resolve the fault.

Any advise please? and will the original calibration No. 705CE58 still be applicable?

ANSWER

Hi George,

Sorry I can't give you a simple solution.

The H20KW (now discontinued) was one of our W Series, low cost, low specification machines designed for the Educational market and basic pull and bang industrial applications. The load cell in a W Series machine is fixed and should never be removed for calibration as there are no adjustments on the load cell itself. Calibration is carried out by applying a known load and adjusting the main circuit board electronics.

As you are UK based, please contact Sue Ivory, our Service and Calibration Supervisor on 01737 765001 to arrange for either one of Service Engineers to visit you or for the machine to be returned to us for repair. (Overseas readers should contact their nearest Tinius Olsen Distributor if they need to arrange a repair or calibration).

Tinius Olsen also operates a free help desk to enable existing customers to ring up if they need help with their machine.

Best Regards,

David
