The Construction Industry has traditionally had a poor safety record. This is now changing and new regulations have been introduced to help prevent accidents. One of these is a requirement for scaffolding safety netting. This is to prevent a worker falling through the gaps in scaffolding.

The netting is manufactured with spare meshes attached. One mesh must be cut off every year and tested to ensure the netting has not deteriorated beyond a certain minimum safety level.
Hounsfield/Tinius Olsen has supplied Testing systems to DuroScaf in Castleford, West Yorkshire, Rafwell in Doncaster and Swale Scaffolding in Richmond North Yorkshire.

All use the Hounsfield/Tinius Olsen H10KS 10kN capacity universal test machine with 10kN capacity hook grips. Software is not required for this application as the H10KS and any ā€œSā€ Series Hounsfield/Tinius Olsen machine will print off a test report with statistics and a test curve directly from the stand alone machine without the need for additional software.
